AT NEW ENGLAND FLOWER SHOW AND HORTICULTURE SYMPOSIUM IN CONNECTICUT
SUDBURY, MA – Award winning landscape designer Maria von
Brincken will speak at the 2004 New England Flower Show at 2:30

for Antique and Contemporary Homes.”
The New England Flower Show showcases more than 1,500 varieties

of categories in addition to a program of workshops conducted
by leading gardening experts including von Brincken.

Horticulture Symposium 2004 on March 18 at the New Canaan Nature
Center. Her topic, “Shade Gardening: Design Ideas, Choice Perennials
and Combinations,” illustrates her knowledge of native plants
as well as her creative and innovative ideas on combining flowers,
trees and shrubs for the landscape.
The mission of the New Canaan Nature Center, an environmental
education center and sanctuary, is to help people of all ages
understand, appreciate and care for the world of nature. Located
on a 40-acre site with unusual habitat diversity, including wet
and dry meadows and woodlands, the organization recently opened
a new visitor’s center in addition to the 4000 square foot greenhouse
and several other buildings on the property. The New Canaan Nature
Center sponsors a vast array of activities and events, including
the 2004 Horticulture Symposium “The Lure of the Garden – Its
Artistry and Energy.”

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER MARIA VON BRINCKEN
ACHIEVES NATIONAL CERTIFICATION
SUDBURY, MA - In the world of landscape design, it's not
whom you know, but what you know that distinguishes the best from
the rest. Maria von Brincken, APLD, knows a great deal about designing
beautiful, functional landscapes. Von Brincken recently put that
knowledge to good use, earning certification as a professional
landscape designer by the Association of Professional Landscape
Designers, a national organization. Von Brincken, also certified
by the Radcliffe Seminars Graduate Landscape Design Program at
Radcliffe College in 1994, says she is honored by the recognition
within her industry.
The APLD certification process verifies that von Brincken has
submitted her work to the Certification Review Panel. Von Brincken's
drawings were evaluated from installed projects that presented
inventive solutions to assigned problems. Satisfied that her work
met their criteria, the APLD awarded von Brincken certification.
Von Brincken brings more than 10 years of landscaping experience
and problem solving to each client and job site. As one of only
seven APLD-certified professional landscape designers in Massachusetts,
von Brincken offers complete landscape services: master plans,
distinctive and original garden designs, and consultation and
construction. Creating beautiful spaces that include hard surface
landscaping solutions such as walkways, driveways, walls and more
plus great planting combinations remains von Brincken's mission
as her business expands.
APLD's certification is recognized as the national program setting
standards for landscape designers. Only certified members of APLD
may use the designation of APLD after their name. Based in Harrisburg,
PA, the APLD sets high standards of excellence and promotes these
standards throughout the industry. Among the goals of APLD is
to assist in the professional development of its members, facilitation
of interaction among landscape designers, recognition of professional
achievement through its certification program and consideration
of issues affecting the profession and the environment. Founded
in 1989, ALPD can be contacted at 717-328-9780 or at www.APLD.com.
